i'm having trouble understanding this programs disk doctor. when i Run it,
it always says taht AOL instant messenger has invalid date and time stamps,
which i don't know why it does. when i run scan disk, seem to have no
problems (although i guess this date stamp thing isn't a huge deal). why
does this happen

also, did Norton speed disk ever somehow mess up someone's Windows system? i
never used this before, but one of my friends did, and it kind of screwed up
his computer. he's not sure why though

thanks for the info.

Norton Utilities, when you use the proper version for your operating system,
is a very useful, and reliable tool! Unfortunately, when doing an install,
if you do not to a custom install, it will install several of it's
components for automatic start-up, which is usually undesirable! If you do
a custom install, and tell it NOT to run System Doctor, at start-up, and
possibly Crash Guard, as well, you'll be much better off. Those utilities,
when loaded full-time, use valuable system resources that would better be
left for your applications!

And yes, I'm seen the invalid file date message myself, and they are indeed
invalid, and Norton does correct them!

Many people use Norton Utilities without reading the manual, possibly
because they're running illegal copies. So if they don't understand what
they're doing, that may be why they have all these rumored problems!

I don't believe the act of defragmenting a drive can cause system problems.
Have you tried DiskDoctor and WinDoctor, both programs included in Norton
Utilities?

well,.... i don't really use the progrma, but someone that i know did. he
said that diskdoctor i think caught al lthe date stamp errors or something,
but it wasn't anythin gbig. he just found it weird that scandisk would't
catch it, and was wondering if the date stamp errors were reAL. as m.a. murr
pointed out, i guess tehy are real. hehe thanks

There are some programs that use the date stamp as a key to indicate
registration
if you allow Norton to fix these dates you will find that these programs
will quit functioning so be careful.
