The first time I tried, NDD surface test ran until it got
about halfway thru the thorough the scan and Windows
crashed just like hitting the warm reboot button. The
next time I tried it took about an hour to do 11%, and I
gave up. The first time I ran Microsoft's Scan Disk on
the Seagate, it stopped and immediately switched to
my primary Maxtor 5.8 gig DMA33 drive. I tried Scan
Disk again on the Seagate and it worked fine. NDD
still doesn't work on the Seagate. Thanks for reading
this, here is my setup:
SCSI -
Diamond Fireport40 with the latest drivers and BIOS.
External Toshiba 12x SCSI CDROM drive, shielded
cable going into a passive passthru terminator, drive
termination disabled.
Internal Seagate Medalist 6.5 Gig hard disk, not primary,
teflon 2-drive cable, Seagate on last connection, nothing
on second connection, Fireport on first connection,
termination enabled.
SCSI BIOS is configured 16bit/40Megs per sec for the Seagate
and 8/10 for the external CDROM drive.
Diamond Ultraeasy indicates no problems with the setup.
General -
Supermicro 701A midcase
Abit BX6 Mainboard (latest BIOS G-something)
Celeron 266 (running at 400 on the 100Mhz mobo)
128 Meg Micron PC100 RAM
Matrox Mil G200 8M SGRAM (Conflicts with AGP as it is supposed to)
Maxtor 5.8 DMA33 (primary)
Diamond MX300
Loads of fans all exhausting through the back of the PS
Windows95b
MSIE5beta
Global Village external Modem
