Now, how do I delete my other, previously-entered, choices from the
drop-down list, so the only choice I see is "local hard drives only"? I'm
pretty sure that has to be done through the registry.

Um... that wasn't what I meant. I mean the drop down list if you click that
little down-ward pointing arrow--the real left tab. I went into the
Registry (yes, I did export it first), and after a few wrong guesses,
searching on "search" got me to the correct entry. I deleted all the things
like c:\+, d:\+, e:\temp\+, etc. Now all that shows up in that window is
"local hard drives only", and I just leave it that way all the time.
I'm soooo happy! (It takes so little these days.)
