>>My floppy drive "a" has been infected with the "concept r" virus
stating the master boot record of "a" drive can not be repaired. I no
longer can add programs or use my floppy drive. I currently have 2.0
version anti-virus but have not updated it since dec. 1997<<

Hello Alan,

Thanks for visiting the Norton AntiVirus Online Support area.

The first thing I would suggest is that you update your virus definitions with
the latest. You can download an update for your version of NAV 2.0 by going to
this URL:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/download.html

Select NAV for Windows 95/98, click on Next and then select Norton AntiVirus
2.0 for Windows 95. The name of the file you'll need to download is
0923I16.EXE. Save this file to your harddrive and then double-click on the
filename to automatically update the definitions. Then, try scanning the
floppy again.

WM.Concept.R does not infect the boot record of floppies (and floppies do not
have an MBR) so I suspect that this is a false detection. The latest
definitions should help. Also, please note that the floppy drive itself cannot
be infected, only the media that is placed in it.

Should you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
