Configuration Information:
Version: --Other--

NAV 5.0 uses Windows 98's Scheduled Tasks program by default.
However, I've been using NAV's Scheduler for years and like it
better.

How do I install NAV's Scheduler under Windows 98?

Thanks,
Jac Clapp

The Norton Program Scheduler is included with version 5. Be sure that
option is selected when installing NAV.

Hello Jac,

Thank you for contacting us in the Online Technical Support forum.

If you go to Start, Programs, Norton AntiVirus and from the flyout,
select the 'Schedule a Scan or LiveUpdate' option.

In the scheduler (Scheduled Tasks) go to Advanced, and click on the
'Start Using Task Manager'.

Let me know if you're still having problems with this.

Thank you,

If you don't see the Norton Program Scheduler beneath Start, Programs,
Norton AntiVirus, then you may need to reinstall NAV.

Add the following line to the "[Install Options]" section of INSTOPTS.INI:

ForceNPSOnWin98=1

This will turn on the Norton Program Scheduler on Windows 98 systems. Note
that you will have to copy the CDROM install directory to your hard drive in
order to change the INSTOPTS.INI settings.

I hope this mets your needs.

Thanks, Jim, for the answer. It worked beautifully.

You may want to share this information with Joel Cook as he doesn't
seem to understand the difference between Norton Program Scheduler
and Windows 98's Scheduled Tasks.

Thanks again.

I have installed NAV version 5 both as an upgrade and as a fresh install.
In both cases the NORTON Program Scheduler was automatically installed.
