Configuration Information:
Version: --Other--

I recently updated my virus definition set to the Sept. version,
after doing so I received an error message that the virus definitions
were no longer valid or corrupt. This then disabled the auto-protect
features. A new message came up stating that I should reinstall NAV.
I attempted to uninstall NAV and was unable to do so since there was
a problem with nav95.isu file....I believe the error message stated
this file was also corrupt. I then attempted to shutdown the machine
and restart....this then generated some serious problems. Windows 95
would not start and would lock up. I then was only able to start
windows in Safe mode. I also believe the problem is in the file
navap.vxd. Any new info on this problem? I can no longer run NAV
and had to delete all files to allow windows to boot normally. Could
you please send me the prior version of navap.vxd.

System : Dell Pentium 166, windows 95.
NAV version : 4.0

The problem with the NAV95.ISU file is addressed in the Symantec knowledge
base article at the link below.

In order to remedy the problem with the definition files I recommend you
uninstall Norton AntiVirus via the Add/Remove Programs applet in the
Windows Control Panel then manually delete the "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs" folder. Restart the computer, reinstall
NAV then update the virus definitions via LiveUpdate or by downloading and
executing the Intelligent Updater.
