Hi Bob,

In order to use the NAV 2.01 patch you would need to have version 2.0 of NAV
for Windows 95. If you do have version 2, then it will say so in the Help ->
About box of NAV. Here's a guide to determining what version of NAV you have
and what files are needed to update that version. Note that going from one
whole number NAV version to another is a paid upgrade -- it needs to be
purchased from Symantec.

NOTE: If your version of NAV for Windows 95 does not have a Live Update
button on its toolbar, then you have version 1 of NAV. NAV95v2 and NAV 4.0
have Live Update; NAV95 version 1 does not have Live Update.

For NAV any Win 95 version go to the NAV main menu and choose Help -> About.
It will there show the version you are using. The following chart shows what
_PROGRAM_ updates you might need in order to be able to use the current style
of virus definitions. When you do Check Help -> About to find your displayed
version of NAV95, ignore any reference you see to Windows 95 (4.0) as this has
to do with the internal version of Windows you are using and nothing to do
with NAV:

If you have NAV 4.x or NAV 5, then when you run Live Update to acquire new
definitions it will also update the program as necessary.

Info Regarding the above updates is listed here:

NAV950B.EXE
This patch is required to apply the December 1996 or later virus definition
set. This patch will ensure that your installation will continue to accept
the latest (and largest) virus definitions files. Using older versions of
Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95 can cause false detections when the new virus
definitions are installed. This latest patch also adds support for Microsoft
Service Pack 2 (FAT 32/large volumes).

NAV95201.EXE
Either this patch _OR_ the update to Live Update itself is now required. If
your version of Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95 (NAVW32.EXE) is dated before
December 19, 1996, you can update it using this patch. This patch adds
password protection to the Options dialog box, adds network alerting from
Auto-Protect and virus scanner, and also a newer version of Live Update.
There is, however, an even newer version of Live Update available separately
and you may wish to download the separate update to the most recent version of
Live Update to insure that Live Update will continue to work properly for you.
The update to LU is named LUSETUP.EXE.

The following information relates to the (American) English version of the NAV
product:

The NAV950b.exe update can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp1.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/norton_antivirus/ver1_win95/updates

The NAV95201.exe update can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp1.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/products/norton_antivirus/ver2_win95-nt/updates

The LUSETUP.EXE update can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp1.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/liveupdate/updates

Note that if any of the above URLs are used, the should be all one line with
no spaces in it.

If you have NAV95v1 updated to the 95.0b release or NAV95v2.x, then the
correct downloadable virus definition update is the Intelligent Updater
version 1.7. This version of NAV is no longer officially supported; however,
it does use the exact same virus definitions as version 2.x of NAV, so
download the virus defs said to be for NAV version 2 and you will be able to
use these updated definitions.

If you have NAV4.x for Windows 95 or NAV5.0 for Windows 95/98, then the
correct downloadable virus definition update file is the Intelligent Updater
version 4.0.

The virus definition update files are available from the following URLs:

or

http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/download.html

or

ftp://ftp1.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/antivirus_definitions/norton_antivirus/
