I have just become employed for a one man law firm...
We are moving from MAC to IBM within the next few months. We have
our client base of cases on Panorama for MAC and I was interested in
converting this info into ACT!
IS THIS POSSIBLE??? My boss claims that he can easily format the
info within the actual "command" or programming mode. Maybe we could
get the text into Excel for MAC then for IBM then into ACT!??? You
tell me...
I have worked with ACT! in the past and would find lots of its
features an asset to my new boss and our filing system. I hope that
you can help me. We are very interested in getting this info asap.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Katherine,
ACT! 4.0 can import data in either dBase or Text-Delimited formats. As
long as the output from the Panorama can be stored in a file which can
be copied or moved to the PC in one of the formats above you will be
able to import. One limitation of the import is that is reduced to the
contact information and notes (notes can only be imported using
dBase).
Notes can be imported using dBase if the notes are in a dBase memo
field. The following article in our Knowledge Base expands on this.

Hi Emmy,
Are you running ACT! 4.02? You can check your version by selecting
Help > About. Changes were made to the ACT! program in the
import/export routines including the maps.
When your receive this error the map file you are trying to use is
considedred corrupted by the system. It in fact may not be.
If you close ACT! and open ACTDIAG (ACTDIAG.EXE) found in the ACT
folder you have an option under Reset to reset the Data Exchange maps,
reset them, close ACTDIAG and reopen ACT. When you get to the contact
map screen in the data import wizard, don't use the predefined maps
and move to the contact map screen, save this map to Default.map,
backup and now use predefined and the Outlook map.
If you get the error the map file is corrupted. Your options are don't
use or custom install the map files after deleting them. For
instructions on Custom Installing see the following document.
