Help.

I do extensive faxing of a one page letter in Act mail merge.

When I did a mail merge (to winfax) in act 3.0, it noted a letter was
sent under the letter date field. Act 4.0 doesn't do this.

If I fax a letter to my prospects (I have over 16000 prospects), I
used to be able to tell when they last got a letter by looking at the
letter date. This doesn't work in 4.0.

This is a huge problem for me. How can I solve this. Do I have to
go back to 3.0? Or is there a way around this?

I have the same problem
I could tell at the name of the file when and to whom I send this
doc. But if you save it under a different name than the one ACT! 4.02
suggest I get an error message by faxing a Word 97 doc with WFP 8.03.
(Windows 98)
This is fustrating since I still can't fax the way I was used to.
Can we please change anything in these macro's?

Hello Tony,

A fax mail merge using ACT! 4.0 does not update the letter sent field,
as you have already observed.

I suggest you use one of ACT!'s user fields to accommodate your needs.
Once the mail merge is complete use Edit, Replace to update the field
to reflect that a fax mail merge was completed on a certain date.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Hello Frank,

When you fax a mail merge using ACT! 4.0 the letter sent field is not
updated.

You can use a User field to serve this purpose. Once the fax mail
merge is complete use Edit, Replace to update the User field with the
date the fax mail merge was done.

I'm not sure what you mean by saving a document with a different name
causing problems. If you continue to have problems saving and faxing
documents please let us know what steps you follow and any error
messages you see.

Patti,

Because this feature is available in 3.0, is it possible to use act
3.0 on my computer as well as 4.0. I could simply sync the two
databases. Can I put 3.0 in its own folder?

Thank you
Tony

Hello Tony,

Unfortunately, due to registry entries, you can not install ACT! 3
and ACT! 4 on the same machine.

Let us know if there are any other questions we can answer for you.
