I have been using ACT! v4.02 with WinFaxPRO (WFP) v8.03 in a
standalone environment for a while. In this environment ACT! properly
records a successful event (with a history icon), a successful event
saved as a WFP file (with WFP icon) and a successful event saved as a
Word document (with a Word icon); depending on what I told ACT! to
record.
I have moved to a Windows NT 4.0 Network with WinFaxPRO for networks
installed on a dedicated faxserver (a Win 95 pc). The fax gets sent
through the WFP faxserver just fine. However, now ACT! ONLY records a
successful event if "save as a Word document" is selected. ACT! is
not "seeing" the successful event if only "record successful event"
or "record successful event as a WinFax file" is selected.
Is this the way it is "programmed" to work? Am I doing something
wrong? Is there a setting that needs to be changed?
Any information you can provide wouuld be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Dan

Hello Dan,
ACT! supports WinFax Pro 8.03 not WinFax Pro for networks.
I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help to you today.

I realize that ACT! supports WinFaxPRO v8.0x. And, that is what I am
using on each pc.
However, we also have a network (like alot of people) and have the
need to use ACT! in a network environment. Meaning, we need to be
able to use a few modems rather than have a modem in each pc and a
direct line out from that pc (costly and no longer practical).
And especially since Symantec owns both ACT! and WinFaxPRO I would
think Symantec would work hard to make them work together in the real
world!
Symantec NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER and realize that they need
to provide their customers and the marketplace with more
sophisticated capabilities. The pc world is fast moving away from the
standalone user. If the price of ACT! need to go up I believe there
is a marketplace for a product that provides more robust capabilities
at a higher price ($300-$500). If they don't SOMEBODY ELSE WILL!!
I know that as a tech support person you are not directly concerned
with this. So if you are not able to pass this advice along to the
appropriate person would you please let me know who I can write to?
Thank you,
Dan
