I am currently using Word97 SR-2 as my editor. I can compose a fax
fine, but when I attempt to "Send Fax Using Act!" and then select
continue, instead of bringing up the fax dialog, I instead get a new
message in Microsoft exchange, with the document as an attachment,
rather than just the fax. The compose new fax works fine for other
addresses, but whenever I attempt to use Act to fax, I get an e-mail
message instead of a fax.
I created a new profile under "Mail and Fax" in control panel, using
Microsoft Fax as the only service installed, rather than Microsoft
Fax and cc:Mail as is currently set up. However, this produced
similar results, eventually resulting in an undeliverable message in
my exchange mailbox. I believe that the problem may very well be
with Exchange, rather than your product, but I am hoping that you may
have seen it before, and thus be able to point me in the right
direction. Thanks for all your help.

Hello William,
MS Fax is part of MS Exchange. The format you see does, in fact appear
to be an email message. Go ahead and send it. MS Exchange will treat
it as a fax.
Make sure you can fax successfully using MS Fax on its own.
This document discusses what you are seeing.
