Configuration Information:
Operating system: Windows 98
Network: --Other--

Error message:
Act! Word Driver...Error: An error occured during faxing with Act!
4.0.
1. I have updated Winfax to 8.03 using Act CD.
2. I have Windows 98 4.10.1998
3. I have Act 4.0.2
4. I have Microsoft Word 7.0a
When I mail merge multiple documents using Act They all get made in
Word, but when it tries to fax using Winfax, the process stops, I get
a fax cancelled message and I get the error message above. I also
get a history in each file that "fax sent cancelled".

I also notice others have posted similar problems and have not
received answers that solved their problems. If you just can't do it
using your own two products, why don't you just admit it and tell us
a product that can mail merge to a fax.

Hello John,

The template is usually the culprit in the error you are seeing, as
explained in this document.

Title: 'Error: "An Error Occurred During Faxing with ACT!" when
Broadcast Faxing from Microsoft Word'
Document ID: 199848162315
Web URL:

The above document refers you to two additional documents from ACT!;s
knowledge. They are listed below. The first one discussed hidden text
the likely source of the problem while the second one explains how to
re-create a template.

Title: 'Microsoft Word Mail Merges Not Merging Correctly'
Document ID: 199762475133
Web URL:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/act.nsf/docid/199762475133

Title: 'History not Created when Printing ACT! Templates from Word'
Document ID: 199736145536
Web URL:

Thank you Patti.

It works perfectly after reviewing the Document ID # 199762475133
called for in your answer below.

The hidden text that is required at the beginning of the template
that enables WORD to print mail merge documents to the individual
Winfax recipient was missing. I made a new master template and
verified it had the required hidden text and it worked great.

Many thanks.

John
