fax error message

Configuration Information:
Operating system: Windows 95 OSR2
Network: --Other--

I am using WinFax Pro 803 and when I try to fax from ACT I get this
error: The fax for the current contact has failed. Be sure the
contact has a fax phone number.

They do.

This happened since I installed 8.03.

I doesn't happen with all databases (I think)

Help.

Hello Tom,

Please see the following on-line Knowledge Base document. It covers
the issue you are encountering. Be sure to do all the needed Backups
prior to following the steps in the KB document.

In reference to the KB article: When I use the Quick Fax icon on the
Contact toolbar the fax works; when in the ACT! word processor and
choose File, point to Send, and choose Fax it does not work.

Before I uninstall per the KB artcle and with you knowing the
additional info can you advise best course as soon as possible?

Tom,

Let's try a somewhat different approach, especially since you
mentioned that the error does not appear to happen in all databases.

I understand from your message that the QuickFax icon works, but Send,
Fax using the ACT! Word processor does not. This knowledge base
article addresses the issue you are having but QuickFax is the
culprit. However, it deals with the phonebooks and seems worth a try
before uninstalling and reinstalling ACT!

Also make sure the database you are using has 'Use the currently open
ACT! databases as a WinFax phonebook' checked in Edit, Preferences,
WinFax Options tab. This is one preference that has to be set for each
database.
