I imported one act database into another and after I did this I found
that many of my contacts from the databse that was imported into were
erased. Also, some of the fax and phone numbers for my contacts were
erased as well. What happened here? Please let me know so that i
can prevent this from happening in the future. Thank you. Julie

Hi Julie,

The contacts were most likely merged. The import will detect a
duplicate and then replace the contact information screen with the one
having the most current edit date. It then merges notes, history and
activities.

Check your 'match duplicate fields' in both databases. You need to
pick fields least likely to cause matches prior to the import.
Unfortunately, I can think of no easy way to test other than by trial
and error.

Thank you for using ACT!
