Hello Peter,
To convert the database, try using these steps.
1. Copy all the files that make up the database to the machine with
the 3.0 version installed.
2. Go to FILE, OPEN, and change the File Type to "ACT! 1.0 - 2.0
Database (*.dbf)".
3. Browse to the file that you are trying to convert and click
"Open".
This should convert the file. Let me know if these steps do not work.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

PLEASE (!!) guide me urgently in order to export, migrate or
otherwise make availble the old database now used by 1st ACT to my
new ACT!3.0 application.
I am WORIIED to think that all my 700 contacts will have to be
retyped !
I have tried to Open the old db from iles in ACT!3.0, to no avail.
Also tried to use the File-->Data Exchange -->Import wizard: the
error message appears that "...the db may be damaged or hs missing
components, etc, etc".
Both the old (1st ACT)and the new (ACT!3.0) db file extentions are
the same (*.dbf), but they seem to be incompatible.
There is a note that I may have to convert the db into text delimited
format. How ? Then what ? What is the exact procedure (for someone
not so cyber-expert as you !).
As you can see, I need and will appreciate HELP
U R G E N T L Y !
Thank you
