Sir,
Background: In June 1996 I had a new computer built with an internal
US Robotics Sporter 28,000 Modem. I bought WinFax Pro and installed
it with out any problems. As people started to send me faxes I was
finding that I was not being able to receive some of the faxes
causing me to have to revert to my old standby Panasonic stand alone
fax machine. I contacted your tech department and comunicated with a
David W. Case #4007712740. After faxing him my Deltest he responded
stating that instead of having a 28,000 I had a Sprtster 33,600. This
modle is not on the options in the set up screen. He also suggested
5 different Initialization Strings. one of which was:
AT&F&H3&R2&I2S7=90S9=1S36=0\ (Suggested by US Robotics).

I tried all of the string but could not solve the problem. So, I
entered the one above and I have been suffering with this problem
since 1996.

My Question is this. If I were to up grade to the new 9.0 will that
solve the problem? I really would like to stay with WinFax but I am
tired of not being able to have all my faxes received by WinFax in my
computer.

John,

There is no way to know if upgrading to 9.0 would resolve the issue
without actually testing it. I would suggest that you download the
trial version and see if you have the same problem. However, before
doing this there are several things you need to check.

1. You must be running Windows 95/98 or NT.

2. You should have the latest Firmware for your modem. You can
obtain this from 3Com (USR)

3. You need the latest .INF files for your modem. Again you can
obtain these from 3Com.

4. If you are running Windows 95 you must have the latest release of
Unimodem V. This you can obtain from Microsoft.

5. Try the following init String for 4.0 and for 9.0/Talkworks 2.0:

AT&F1S7=90S36=0

Sincerely,
