Hi, Winfax Pro 4 will import DBF files
Use the following steps to import a dBASE file to create a WinFax PRO
4.0 Phonebook:
Open the Phonebooks window in WinFax PRO 4.0.
Click the Phonebook that will contain the new imported information.
Click Fax, then choose Import. The Import Phone Records dialog box
appears.
Choose dBase III/IV from the Format drop-down list.
Click Select and open the file to be imported.
NOTE:
If this was a WinFax PRO 3.0 or 4.0 file, there will be identically
named files except for the letter "G" in the filename. Use the one
without the "G". For example, if the files are named DEFAULT.DBF and
DEFAULTG.DBF, use DEFAULT.DBF.
Click OK.
The Fields must be linked to import the data into the correct
locations. Drag and drop any applicable Fields from the list on the
right to the list on the left. For example, drag First Name from the
right to First Name on the left, and Last Name to Last Name, etc.
NOTE:
Ensure that the Name, Company, Fax Number and Area Code fields (if
applicable) are linked. Also, when importing a *.DBF database from
ACT!, be sure to link the following fields to correctly import the
database into WinFax PRO:
- LastName (NAME) = Contact
- FaxLocalNumber (Fax Number) = Fax_Phone
An ACT! Phonebook will not be imported correctly unless these fields
are linked.
Click OK to begin importing the phonebook data. The dialog box that
appears indicates the number of records imported and ignored due to
missing information or corrupt entries.
Choose Optimize from the Phonebook menu to check the integrity of the
new phonebook.
If you receive an error message instead of the dialog box, one of the
following reasons may apply:
The source file's fields may have been incorrectly linked.
The file type may have been incorrectly specified and is not a dBASE
file.
The source file may be corrupt.
Winfax 8
Will import ASCII and DBF.
