After re installing Winfax Lite version 3.0 my logged files do not
appear in the Send Log or in the Receive Logs. The logged files have
been copied into a new directory for safety. Then moved back into the
Winfax\Data directory to be selected by way of the Send Log or the
Recieve Logs. The files will not appear in the logs after re
installing Winfax Lite version 3.0. New loged files from new
information taking place after the reinstallation do appear in the
Send Log or the Recieve Log. The new information can be read and
retrieved. The software seems to be behaving correctly, with the
exception of not being able to read the old log files.

I am trying to determine how I can retrieve the data in the old Log
files that represent activity that took place before the
reinstallation of the software.

When Winfax software is reinstalled, can the data that was in log
files before the reinstallation be read?

Will Winfax Pro Version 4.0 read the log files from Winfax Lite
version 3.0?

Will Winfax Pro Version 4.0 answer / receive a fax when the computer
is in DOS? I spend most of my workng time in DOS. The TSR feature in
Winfax Lite is useful to enable answer / receive, when the comoputer
is in DOS.

Thank You.

Peter,

Please try the following for the log issue:

In the [WinFax] section of the WIN.INI file, please ensure that the
line Fax Path = is pointing to the directory that contains the LOG.DB
and STATUS.FTM files. If the paths are correct try renaming the
LOG.DB file with the extension .OLD.

WinFax PRO 4.0 can read the 3.0 logs but there is no Dos TSR in 4.0.

Sincerely,

Hi,
I have a similar problem. I moved winfax from my c drive to my d
drive. I was having problems accessing phonebooks and something
else, so I reinstalled winfax and, when given the chance, pointed to
my d drive. I have now lost my send log, receive log and my outbox
doesn't show faxes in the queque when not sending on the first
attempt. The faxes do show up in d:\winfax\data directory, but not
in the program. I went into the win.ini file as you suggested above
& everything checks out. How do I get the program to reference my
d:\winfax\data\log.db ? log.db is only 1kb. My send log, prior to
reinstallation was huge, as I need to keep archived copies of these
sends and receives.
thank you!

I am having the same experience that Casey had. My old logs had a
large number of sent and received faxes in them. They have been
saved, (in compressed form,) but do not appear in the log.

Thanks.
