The problem concerns backing up Winfax 4.0 phonebook files to an
iomega zip drive.

They seem to be copying correctly, but they aren't formatting
correctly when I open the files after copying.

Please assist by providing the proper procedure for copying phonebook
and any other necessary or recommended files for the purpose of
backing up.

Dan,

Copy the .DBF file to the Iomega drive and then go through the
following to re-import the phonebook:

Import the old phonebook into the new installation. In WinFax click
on the Phonebook icon. Right mouse click on New Phonebook/Group.
Select New from the menu. In the New Phonebook/Group dialog box fill
in the Name field. Under Type select Phonebook and then select Use
existing dBase file. Click on the Select button and choose the old
phonebook .DBF file. Click on the OK button and in the New
Phonebook/Group dialog click on the Assign button if it is not greyed
out. In the Data Field Assignment dialog assign the WinFax fields
with the fields in the database.

Sincerely,

Brett Simpson [Symantec Corp.]
