Your people told me to download and install Act2ts.exe, which I have.
How do I get the old 1Act database into the Act2 trial? Then how do I
upgrade the Act2 Trial to 3Act? It does not seem to recognize the
trial version as an acceptable release of Act. I have copied the 1Act
database to the Trial Release and it does not recognize it as a valid
Act database? What gives? I am trying to follow your proceedures. Was
something left out?
Hello Gerald,
ACT! 3.0 for Windows can recognize a 1st ACT! for Windows or 1st ACT!
for DOS database.
Copy all of the 1st ACT database files to the ACT! 3.0 for Windows
machine.
To convert the database:
Open ACT! 3.0.
Select File, Open.
Change the file type to
ACT! 1.0-2.0 Database (*.dbf) - 1st ACT! for Windows
ACT! 2.1 for DOS Database (*.ccd) - 1st ACT! for DOS
Locate and highlight the database you want to convert and click Open.
ACT! will convert the database.
Before you convert:
Back up the database files
Make sure the 'My Record' (1st ACT! for Windows) or 'Manager
Information' (1st ACT! for DOS) is complete.
Compress and Reindex the database.
Sometimes an older ACT! database produces errors during the conversion
process. In those cases we have found the using the trial size to
convert the database to ACT! 2.0 for Windows format then converting it
to ACT! 3.0 for Windows gets the job done. The steps for conversion
are the same I listed above.
If you continue to have problems with the conversion please let us
know what versions of ACT! you are using, the steps you follow, and
any error messages you see.
