My system come pre-installed with Win95B(OSR2). I having problem
installing Act 2.09 for Windows on to my system. During Act
installation, the program crash early or near the end of the
installation. After the five tried, the program finishes the
installation. I tried to run the program and it crash all over my
computer. I would get GPF(general protection error), missing *.dll
files, or even corrupted registry.
I tried reinstalling windows and Act 2.09 and still it does the same
thing over and over. I really frustrated. Do I need to upgrade my
Act program to version 3 for Win95B to work probably? If so, why Act
2.09 for Windows in not capable?
I have a Dell Dimension XPS MiniTower 233MHz Pentium® II processor
w/512K Cache and 64MB SDRAM.
I believe that you have 2 choices -
1. Repartition and reformat using your hard drive FAT-16 so that no
drive is > 2gb. WARNING! Doing this will cause everything on your hard
drive to be erased! You will have to reinstall everything.
2 . Upgrade to ACT! v3.x or the soon to be available v4.x.

Hello Calvin,
ACT! 2.09 is a 16bit program, however it will run under Windows 95.
The following document is from ACT!'s Knowledge Base,
http://service.symantec.com/knowbase/. It will help you optimize your
computer for ACT! Due to its length I have copied the document header
only. At the Knowledge Base make ACT! 3 the product selection and
search on document ID. I realize you are installing ACT! 2 but the
optimization issues are the same.

As John indicated ACT! 2.09 does have problems working with a large
hard drive. A 540 MB partition is recommended.
ACT! also has problems with inadequate free hard drive space.
