Can not create history record for this document's associated contact

Network: Novell Netware

Hi

I have a user that is receiving the following error message when
printing a letter from ACT! 2.0
"A HISTORY RECORD CANNOT BE CREATED FOR THIS DOCUMENT'S ASSOCIATED
CONTACT."

Help ideas and/or help when be greatly appreciated.

Hello Shane,

This error is usually caused by the document that you are printing
trying to make a history entry on the contact that it was originally
created for. Then if for some reason the contact was deleted etc. it
can not find the original record to make the history entry on.
Usually you will need to recreate the document in order to get past
that error.

If it is a letter template that they are running that is causing the
error then you would need to copy and paste the contents of the letter
into a new template. You can do that via WRITE, EDIT TEMPLATE. Then
choose one of the other templates to modify. Then Paste the letter
into the template and then go to FILE, SAVE AS, and then give the
template a different name. Then you can run that template.
