We have an application written in Access 97 that uses Winfax Pro 8.03
to send fax messages. What is involved in upgrading to WinFax Pro
9.0? Is there a new SDK? If so, how do we download it?

Joe,

No problems, but some new features of 9.0 may require changes.

Hello Joe,

Your existing code should work without any modifications with WinFax PRO
9.0. When you install WinFax PRO 9.0, the SDK component is automatically
available. In addition, the SDK documentation and sample code is now
included on the WinFax PRO 9.0 CD ROM. No need to download any files.

Hi Eric,

Is the SDK for Version 9 the same as 8.03? If not, is the phonebook
.AddUser SDK 8.03 resource leak bug fixed in the SDK for Version 9? I've
been waiting for a fix for this bug since 7/16... and have missed a few days
checking this newsgroup and no longer see my original thread on this.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,

I recall testing by adding a few hundred recipients to a phonebook. I
didn't see any problems.

Greg,

It happens in VB5 using the example SDK project. Eric C. and others
verified the resource leak. I wish the newsgroup thread on this would have
stayed around longer.

I've seen no response as to a fix and now that WFP v9 is out I'm wondering
if I will ever see this resource leak fixed in the 8.03 SDK.

I would consider spending the upgrade $ if and only if Symantec would list
the bugs fixed by v9 and this resource leak is one of them fixed... though
paying for a bug fix rubs my management the wrong way.

The fact that WFP had a SDK was very important in the purchase of WFP for my
company. The fact that the SDK has no formal support from the company
making "The World's Best-Selling Fax Software" is damn sad... but maybe I
should have paid more attention to the word "Selling".
