I have a question...... I've had my IIIc for about 1 week now and already
I'm starting to notice that the down arrow button doesn't always response
with the slight press of the button.

I have been playing lots of games like Tetris... but still, after 1 week if
it's already like this, in a few months I can imagine.

My question is this... Is it normal for these buttons to get worked in?
What I mean by that is that right now my down arrow button when I give it
enough pressure just so it clicks, it won't perform the function, but if I
press it firmly it does it no problem. Which is normal?

I obviously do expect buttons to wear over time and just wanted to know if
there is a cause for concern. I'm seriously considering taking advantage of
the Advanced Exchange and having this replaced with a new one.

I would appreciate as much feedback on this "button" issue as possible.
Thanks.

The IIIc down-button has a problem -- the contact switch is a hair too
low and doesn't make good contact with the button. I solved this by
putting a small piece of rubberized foam on the switch. Works great
now.

I've had this problem to varying degrees on every III-model Palm I've
ever owned, not just the IIIc.

I have a year and a half old Palm III which works like a charm. If I were
you, I would call Palm and ask for a new unit.

Not all units have this problem. I've used 3 different IIIc's & the down
button was fine on all of them. No problems on my IIIe or old Palm Pilot
Professional either. It appears to be a true defect rather than a design
flaw.

Palms were not built for games.
I also destroyed a Palm V button while playing Tetris.

Check the Batteries - I've experienced a little sluggishness when batteries
go too low.

My IIIc has no problems, my IIIxe had a sticking button, but the IIIc is fine.

My Palm Vx buttons gave up the ghost after about 6 months of heavy use
(well one of them did anyway).

Palm support is excellent and they replaced my faulty unit FOC and I even
ended up with a Vx which has been upgraded to 3.5.
