To begin with you shouldn't ask this kind of questions in such a manner. As
you can see you have many responses cursing you. May be it is because they
paid for their software and they think you should too. Maybe because they
are developers. Many possibilities. Try a little searching yourself and
you'll find what you need. From there it is for you to judge if you should
pay for the software or not. My opinion is that if you reach to a point
where you NEED a crack you should use it only for evaluation. Pay for the
software if it is good and you like it, or delete it. Well that should be
the way in our "ideal" world. But it is not. And it is not because our world
is not ideal. It sucks. But give standalone programmers a break and pay them
the 10-20 dollars they ask. Use cracks to damage big companies. I am giving
away microsoft programs for free to my friends and I use a lot of them
myself. But I have registered hackmaster and interpilot along with many
other progs I could easily crack or find a crack for.
As for all the guys that replied to your post...don't worry. Being rude is
not always the solution. But don't talk about ropes in the hanged man's
house.
Jason.
I would not recommend telling the world that you distribute Microsoft
software---software piracy carries a $250,000 fine, ten years in jail and
the cost of the pirated software.......and yes MS does prosecute.
AS for the person who posted asking for cracks...if someone breaks into your
house, steals your stereo, just to try the stereo---I expect you won't file
a police report on stolen merchandise?....its the same for software--theft
is THEFT no matter how you justify it.

Again I do not support piracy in any way. I support prosecution of scum
software developers that lie to the public, make a huge profit and then they
do it again. But prosecution doesn't work so...do it yourself. Complain to
the proper authorities. Let the people know of the scum. And even prove it
by giving a registered version out. Just to show that registering doesn't do
what the company promises. The reason I mentioned MS is as an example of a
big company that will probably get away with a scum like that (if they try
it). However MS is in USA where the laws are different so I can't have an
opinion. But here if a software developer sells you his brand new 32bit os
with multiprosseccing, multithreading and a lot of extras and when you
install it it ends up to be a freeware linux with a startup message: Booting
SuperOS...
there is nothing you can do. NOTHING. Nothing legal at least.

Of course, that never happened. You're just making things up.

Am I the only one to find this contradictory..?

There have been many posts here talking about Palm IIIc's coming with
cracks. :)

You had to accept the End-User License Agreement (EULA) when installing
Windows. What you agreed to was (among other things):
"LIMITATION ON REVERSE ENGINEERING,
DECOMPILATION, AND DISASSEMBLY. You may not reverse
engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Product, except and
only to the extent that it is expressly permitted by
applicable law notwithstanding this limitation."
Depending on the laws where you are, you are probably not allowed to
disassemble or reverse engineer the code for any other purpose than to make
the product work in your particular environment in the way the code was
originally meant to work. I.e., bugfixes are ok, but changing functionality
is not.
Also, you did NOT buy a copy:
"The Product is protected by copyright and other
intellectual property laws and treaties. Microsoft or its
suppliers own the title, copyright, and other intellectual
property rights in the Product. The Product is licensed, not
sold."

Greece joined the European Union in 1986, and you have legal protection by
EU directives and laws. Contact your local EU representative if you feel
that local laws doesn't conform to EU laws.

No, that's the "taint," not the crack.

You also stated in so many words that you choose what companies you are
going to pirate from based on some arbitrarily chosen capital size. Man.
You are not only a hypocrite but you are a self declared pirate indirectly
suggesting this course to others through an invitation of imitation.
Microsoft is one of the greatest companies on the face of the planet and it
is largely because of them that the public has access to the internet and
fast easy to use computers that people without engineering backgrounds can
use.
To publicly pick on Microsoft like you did tells me you are some uneducated
ignorant thirteen year old. I am just glad that these posts can be traced
so you will be found out. But. Don't worry. Even though you will probably
be prosecuted and your parents will lose their life savings defending
you......... Because of your age, you probably won't serve much time.

Sure. I'm with you so far. The implication that cracking game software is
the kind of disassembly that's going to take you anywhere isn't proven,
though. You might do it once, then go on to hack on your own games, that's
productive. Trading cracked software someone else broke, though, that's
pointless.
>....it's these people that develop the software of the future.....is it not?
Generally not. The people that will develop the software of the future these
days are learning by hacking open source software. Much more useful stuff to
learn there, and you can actually make a contribution.

Disassemble all you want, just don't hand it out to anyone else. THAT is
where it crosses the line from education to unethical behaviour.

Yeah, that is the spirit, hacking into the program for the knowledge and the
challenge, and NOT causing the original developer harm by distribute the
cracked stuff...
