I have installed Network Manager on Windows NT server.
The first login from a Windows 95 Workstation installs Antivirus
okay, next time I log in, I should have the new virus definitions,
but it reinstalls antivirus again and again.
Searching your pages made me try several things.
Already tried:
1. Called the nns-file it's original name (_deflt32.nns) instead
of custom.nns.
2. Changed the settings in the nns-file:
* NAV95File="Readme.txt"
* NAV95NetFile="Readme.txt"
because of the timestamp problem.
3. Permissions on the libraries is set to Administrators=Full
control and Everyone=Change
4. I have checked the Daylight Savings Time, they are the same on
both server and workstation.
5. Verbose=1 and Activity log=1, but I don't get anything in the
logs??
Another problem is that the user can't see that an install is
processing, except from the disk activity. But ordinary users don't
normally notice that. Is it possible to put a message screen on to
notice the user?
Sorry, the navlog.txt on the workstation says so. The version of the
antivirus I use, is the one distributed from Symantec on the solution
CD. Why does it then says, that I require a new update??

started.
09-22-1998 10:24:52 ulla No virus definitions located
on the workstation.

Norton AntiVirus required.

Hi Ulla,
Thanks for writing.
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems.
I have seen situations where when a file gets copied from a NTFS
partition to a FAT partition the time stamp is changed (in seconds).
I suggest you use the solution you tired:
" Changed the settings in the nns-file:
NAV95File="Readme.txt"
NAV95NetFile="Readme.txt""
However, let's copy the README.TXT from a FAT workstation to your NT
server. The conversion that is done from NTFS to FAT will have
already been done and the copy back to the NTFS server should now
synch up the README.TXT file.
Please let me know what you find.

Hi,
I did what you said, but it didn't work.
I prosume that the timestamp is the modified date and not the created
date, because the created date is changing on the workstation with
every new install, of course.
These dates is now the same on seconds, the only difference is that
NT writes AM and this does my danish Win 95 not.
My Antivirus version is 4.08 and the downloaded virus definitions is
the file 0916x86. Does that make any problems?
What do I do, I can't change from my IBM Antivirus before the virus
update works!!!

Hi Ulla,
Thanks for your reply.
I can not find any other occurrences like this. Typically the
solution of coping the file from the workstation to the server and
using it as the compare works. I will contact our European
counterparts to see if there is a language issue. We will get back to
you on this thread.
