I have been able to get the login script to do the installation of
NAV on a workstation by viewing the ntlog file and reseting the
administrative impersonation.
Now I have a problem with not being able to update the virus
definitions via a logon script from the NT server.
The Navlog reads:
Norton AntiVirus update started.
Checking Norton Antivirus settings.
Error: Option files not foun don the server. Check in the NNS file
for error in location.
Checking liveupdate host file.
Error: liveupdate host file not found on the server. Check in the NNS
file for error in location.
Checking Norton AntiVirus virus definition files.
Norton Antivirus installed.
When I go to the workstation and run NAV it tells me
unable to find valid virus definitions files Please reinstall NOrton
Antivirus.
I downloaded the appropriate file from your website and extracted it
into the navdef4x folder on my server.
What gives? Why can't I update the virus definitions.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for writing.
I am sorry to hear you are experiencing problems.
First let's check the user's permissions. If you are running NAVNET or
NAVNET32 from a Windows NT server:
The users must have READ rights. If you are having the workstation
write to the Network Activity Log, they must also have CHANGE rights.
As another test please run the Intelligent Updater on the workstation
to see if the unable to find definitions error is resolved.
Please let me know what you find.

Hi Diane,
Thanks for your reply.
Your Navlog reads:
Norton AntiVirus update started.
Checking Norton Antivirus settings.
Error: Option files not found on the server. Check in the NNS file for
error in location.
Make sure the NNS file is pointing to the correct location for the
definitions. Extract the definitions to this folder. Make sure the
end user has proper permissions to this folder.
When I run NAV on the workstation I still get the error telling me it
is unable to find valid virus definitions Please reinstall NAV.
What Next??!!
TIA
Diane
