I just noticed this behaviour, and I don't know if this happened prior
to Win2000, but it seems that when copying files over from the Mac to
our Win2000 servers, file creation date information is not retained as
it would be from Mac to Mac. Win2000 appears to datestamp the files with
new creation dates upon copying from drive to drive, and yet it leaves
mofification dates intact.

The result of course is that many of the files are then in the
precarious position of having creation dates newer than their
modification dates, which really blows if you ever copy the files back
to your Mac and decide to run Norton. I can do without all the minor
error reports thank you very much . . .

It also blows because I tend to rely on file creation dates for
referencing old project start times etc. Knowing when I last copied a
file isn't of very much use to me . . .

So is this a bug? A feature? Are MS working on this? Anyone know if
there's a fix available? My view is that this has to be a bug, as it is
not consistent with directory behaviour. Directories DO seem to retain
their proper creation dates when copying over from Mac to Win2000 . . .
