Does the updated Norton Utilities 7.2 (through the Live Update feature) make the Speed Disk app operational in Jaguar? I just ordered it specifically for this feature, and am reading in the 7.0 manual that Speed Disk doesn’t go with 7.0.

TIA

I could not use the updated NUM to run Speed Disk with 10.2.1 as I could
not boot up my computer with the orginal disk (which did not have the
updated NUM). I called Symantec and they sent me the latest disk (for
free) which has the updated NUM as well as OS 9.2.2 so that you can boot
with it to run Speed Disk with 10.2.

Yup.  Works for me on both my OSX 10.2.1 systems after the live update.

OK, so I get NUM 7.0, run the live updates, and restart my G4 running OS X.2 from the CD. The boot occurs in 9.2 —not a problem— but when I try to run the Doctor or Speed disk, the only volume found is my OS9. I have (of course) different icons for OS9 and X.  And the only icon that shows up is the one for OS. What throws me is according to Symantec’s own document (“How to optimize your Mac OS X hard disk  yada yada”  ID#2002102312580611) it tells me to “Click on your Mac OS X hard disk”.

There are further instructions about adding a profile, etc—all of which I can do. But the fact that I’m only seeing my Sys 9 icon —is that simply because I’m booted up in 9? And if I run NDD, then Speed Disk selecting the Sys9 icon, am I indeed defraging and optimizing my “hard drive” )both os 9 and X?
TIA
