Configuration Information:
Version: NDD Pro 1.1
Application: CopyDoubler
Operating system: System 8.1
------------------------------------------------------------

There was nothing on the web page for purchasing this roduct that had
any warning about being incompatible with System 8.1!

I've read the posts about no longer supporting (upgrading)
DiskDoubler. May I say you would have done well to not buy up every
frigging utility company in the game, only to abandon their
products!!

I used SuperDoubler with great satisfaction over the years, and was
tickled to death to find I could create scheduled copies to back up
to a Jaz disk just during the weekdays on our file server WITH
APPLESHARE FILE SERVER RUNNING! WOO HOOO!

Ah, but now that I've upgraded to a G3 server (which will ONLY run
8.0/8.1), I'm screwed! I no longer have a backup mechanism, I'm sure
you will tell me I can buy Norton backup (which you got when you
sucked in Central Point) but I shouldn't have to do that.

So I went ahead and bit the bullet, and bought the DiskDoubler Pro
upgrade, thinking, "Of course it has to be compatible!" The
confirmation number incidentally, is 7297128891 from an online form.
I'm afraid I will have to decline now, and hopefully you can
intercept the order before my credit card has been billed.

SuperDoubler is/was a GREAT PRODUCT! If you are hard set against
making it System 8 compatible, I suppose I will have to look
elsewhere, but rest assured, I WILL look ELSEWHERE. Unless of course
you buy out whoever that might be too.

What I need in a backup utility is the ability to backup only files
that have changed, to compress or not depending on the situation, to
backup in Finder format because I may need to grab the backup disk in
an emergency and start the server from that, and to backup while the
server software is running, and oh yes, to back up to the server FROM
a client, autologging into the server with a saved name and password.
CopyDoubler provided all of this. Whatever I get will need to do the
same.

Hello Robert Sneidar,

As regards backup products Symantec is no longer in the backup business.
Additionally, Symantec cannot make recommendations for third-party
software. However, as an individual Mac user I would suggest looking at
Retrospect. You can find more information about it at :

http://www.dantz.com/

I also used to use CopyDoubler to backup my files, but eventually (even
before 7.6 came out) it could no longer meet my needs as a backup
program.

Technical Support cannot cancel your order; if you contact Customer
Service at 1-800-441-7234, they would be more than happy to get you
moving in the right direction.
