As you've discovered, Disklock is not compatible with HFS+. You should
indeed uninstall it if your drives are formatted with this protocol.
We do have a beta of the HFS+ compatible version, but are not able to
distribute it to customers.
We are in the process of determining the answers to your other
questions; we should have those answers by the end of the year.
