Hi Joe,

This problem may actually be caused by you having too much disk space
available. Most DOS programs such as Q&A are not designed to support disk
volumes over 2 Gigabytes in size. Q&A will typically run into similar
error message if used with a disk partition larger than 1.85 Gigabytes in
size. The error message is also most frequently run into when running Q&A
under Windows 95

To make sure the environment is setup properly, you can either:

1) Repartition your disk volumes so that you have a volume no more than
1.85 Gigabytes to use Q&A with, or:

2) Add an additional drive that is smaller than 1.85 Gig.

A very popular utility program that allows users to easily adjust and
manage their hard drive partitions is a program called Partition Magic. So
if you find you ever would like to adjust your hard drive partitions, and
would like to be able to avoid having to back everything back up and
reformat in order to do that, their software can help out very well. Feel
free to visit their web site at:

If the hard drive is within this limit, there is a possibility that the
database is damaged. Try making a copy of the file outside Q&A to another
directory. If you get no errors take the file thru the reindexing
procedure.

We have a detailed article that explains all about how to repair a damaged
Q&A database when using Q&A for DOS. That article is at this web address:

There are some other options if these do not work, either read other posts
on the same subject or post more specific information from the results of
these procedures.

Hope you are having a great day!
