Our company has a collection of old documents created using the write
component of Q&A ver 3.0 for DOS. Is there any way I can
successfully import these documents into a modern day application
such as MS Word? Are there other Symantec products that read in this
format, allowing me to convert it on from there?

Bevan,

I'm not personally aware of a good solution for this, as Q&A 3.0's Write
program could only export to the ASCII text format. While you could use
that feature to export to ASCII, you would naturally lose all formatting in
the documents.

Do you know of any Q&A user groups in your area? If you could find another
user with the newer 4.0 or 5.0 version of Q&A, you could use one of those
versions to instead export the documents to either WordPerfect 5.x for DOS
or MSWord 5.x for DOS format. Recent releases of MS Word for Win 95 have
import filters for both of those file formats. So you could export the
documents to one of them first, and then be able to import that into Word.

I'm not aware of a solution to do a mass export of a group of files at
once. With Q&A 4.0 or 5.0, it has to be done one doc at a time.

One organization you may want to contact is the National Q&A User Group at:

Perhaps they know of a Q&A group, or maybe a Q&A consultant in New Zealand
they could refer you to.

Much easier to use Quick View Plus v 4.5 to view the Q&A document - then
clip and copy into word.
