In other words, for 3 years I've been using an obsolete and probably
ineffective version of Norton Anti-Virus! And I've been paying regularly for
what I presumed was up-to-the-minute virus protection! Now I'm asked to pay
for an upgrade in addition to the yearly subscription fee which is currently
in effect!
All this without a word of warning from Symantec that my version was
obsolete. Yet they took my money every year! What a lousy way to do
business!

A Trojan got past McAfee Internet Suite on my notebook. It builds fake files
to fill the disk at the rate of 1MB/minute. I loaded a Linux memory system
to out the files. Then tried to reload McAfee. Apparently their software
tracks the install date and prohibits install if greater than one year. As
long as the software was loaded it would update the virus profiles, but if
uninstalled, you are locked out.
I switched to Norton. But the virus locked the system before it could finish
loading. Now I have a system locked by two Internet Suites.
Guess it's time to switch to Solaris.
