I am in a new position at work and they use the very old Norton
Utilities that contained File Compare and Text Search. I went out
and purchased Norton Utilities for Win95 and found a very nice File
Compare. However, I cannot for the life of me find the general text
search. This is a utility that will scan multiple files for the
contents of a specified phrase or keyword. This is basically the
only utility I need. Where can I purchase it, download it???

For better or worse Symantec chose to remove Text Search (along with most of
the other DOS command line utilities)from the Win 95 product. Their decision
was likely predicated on the fact Windows 95 is designed as a system where the
only use of DOS would be to run a legacy application. For sure you know that
Windows 95 itself does includes a Text Search capability (use the Start
button, Find choice). It happens I like NU8's TS better myself, so I have
tried it on my Win 95 machine and found it works just fine there. Just copy
TS.EXE to a folder on your system that is on your established DOS search path.
