I removed and reinstalled cafe, however my project no longer is able
to recognize that Versions has already been installed.
When I go into cafe, I get currency on the correct project, click on
project/options/version control --- and my Versions software is no
longer available as a choice.
(project data files were stored in a separate directory structure.)
How do I get cafe to recognize Versions as an option? Preferably
without re-installing Versions too.
Versions works fine.
When you install Versions, it registers itself with Visual Cafe. In
order to get it to do this again, you may need to reinstall Versions.
If there is an alternate way to get Versions to reregister with us, I am
unaware of it. You might want to consider talking to them to see if
there is an alternative.

Rick,
Good news, the engineering folks have replied. . .
Key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Symantec\Visual
Cafe\3rdParty\Versions"
*Name(Default)	**Data(=Path to VCafe's exe + stcafev.dll :
e.g "C:\VisualCafePDE\Bin\stcafev.dll)
Key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Starbase\Versions\2.0 "
**Name(Path)****Data(=Path to
versions.exe : e.g "C:\Program Files\Versions\versions.exe")
The Version's file stcafev.dll must exist in the Cafe Bin directory.
I hope this answers your questions, let us know if you would like
further assistance.

That makes sense. The way our 3rd party API works is adding those keys
to the registry, then making sure that those DLLs can be found on the
path. Putting those DLLs in the <Visual Cafe>\bin directory ensures
this, since that is the current working directory.
