Trialling database connectivity - what do I need?

I want to evaluate Visual Cafe for a client, connecting to an Informix
Dynamic Server database on NT. I'm a bit unclear what I need to do this.

I have downloaded the trial versions of Cafe 2.5 and DBAnywhere 1.0. Do I
need DBAnywhere in order to make the Informix DS connection?

If so, what do I have to do to get them to run together and not get
'Client/ Server mismatch' errors? (I've looked at the DBAnywhere Readme
but it refers to files I didn't get in the download).

If not, how do I make the connection from within Cafe?
