Hello,

How do I upgrade to upgrade to Visual Page 1.1.1 from 1.0.2? I tried
to go to the upgrade page but I don't have a password. How do I get
signed up for a user name and password?

I am using a database/webserver software called WebClerk
(www.webclerk.com) written in 4D by James Integrated Technologies.
Special scripts are used to display database records and variables in
a web page. Some of the variable names contain special characters.
Visual Page automatically changes the characters format to display as
html. This couses a database read error beacause the variable name
has been changed.

<P>!jit=0;×tc_City!, !jit=0;×tc_State!</P>

The html above displays the city and state information from a
customer record. Visual page changes × character to &#183; resulting
in the following.

<P>!jit=0;&#183;tc_City, !jit=0;&#183;tc_State!</P>

The database can't display the customer information properly because
the variable name has been changed. Is there a way to have Visual
Page not convert this character?

I did read a forum message about using BBedit to correct this problem
but I would prefer to use Visual Page if I could.

Thanks,

Jim Medlen

Jim -

You should have received a card with a username and password with your
purchase of Visual Page. If you cannot locate this card or otherwise just
don't have one, you will want to contact our dedicated customer service
representative tha handles all Username/PW issues.

Drop them an e-mail at the following address explaining your situation. Be
prepared to provide some evidence of your original purchase of the
product.

Unfortunately, Visual Page cannot be changed or instructed to cease this
ISO-8859-1 character translation functionality. Your only option to
restore the original ASCII character from its ISO-8859-1 equivalent, which
Visual Page keeps changing it to, using another editor.
