My question doesn't pertain to editing the HTML of the parent
document. But the fact that I can't enter a url as a frame source
without getting an error.

Robert -

Sorry, I misunderstood your original point.

The "source" field in the Frame Settings window must contain a reference
to an HTML file relative to the frameset page itself. It won't accept URLs
outside the local scope of your machine.
