I was told, that the xliff format (please differentiate between tool and formate) is similar popular to gettext.
I think gettext is great too, but it was designed for desktop use. So we have a problem, when we want to use the gettext implementation of php, because its not thread-safe and relies on the global (system width?) localization variable.
As long, as Symfony2 has no own interpreter for gettext, we should stay away from this format when creating web applications.
Sure, i cant prove any problems, but the risk for problems is to hight for me.
