The Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University seeks applicants
for an Associate Scientist position with responsibilities in beef cattle
molecular and quantitative genetics research. This position is a full-time
position at the Associate Scientist level. The person in this position
will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the Iowa State Beef
Breeding project. This includes but is not
limited to managing all
data
collection, conducting complex analysis and interpretation of performance
data, presenting results in regional and national meetings, and writing up
of articles for publication in scientific journals.
The position requires coordination of performance data collection as well
as development and maintenance of a comprehensive database system.
Responsibilities also include supervision of graduate students in
collecting performance data and guiding graduate students in retrieving
and analysis of beef breeding data. Identification of original research
problems and preparing grant proposal for funding by an external
institution is highly encouraged.
Applicants must have an earned Master degree in Animal Science or related
discipline, and 5 years experience in relevant beef production systems, an
earned PhD degree in Animal Science is preferred. Demonstrated ability
to work in a
team-based, collaborative environment to solve problems and
