No. If i was going to open it, i'd be looking for dirt and grime or dust gathering around the flash circuit components. The dirt and dust might be absorbing moisture and creating a weak short somewhere such that the high voltage capacitor wont charge or is unable to charge fully. Of course it might be something else. If you open it, discharge the capacitor with something before sticking your fingers in there around the high voltage components. You can get a nasty shock.
I've worked on a few cameras in the past. Happy to help disassemble and reassemble it with you. I have a heap of little screwdrivers too as I found the only way to avoid wrecking the tiny screws is to find a driver that fits perfectly.
