If I tweak around with the settings, while never going over 80% power, I presume I could cut 9mm plywood on the laser cutter?

Same green label BC plywood from Bunnings, just 2mm thicker.

Or is this a big no no?

On my laser cutter, I sometimes do several passes to cut a thick bit of acrylic, being careful not to move the work between passes.

Mine is manual focus instead of auto-focus like the one at robo dino, so I manually move the work up a little bit so that the focal point is deeper in the work for a second pass, which helps cut through it. The final edge isn’t as uniform as doing a single pass, on clear acrylic, but it might be less noticeable on wood.

Let us know how you go!

Cheers
Andrew
