Dan Collins posted about compliant mechanisms a little while ago,

I saw this neat research paper from Sept 2021 (what, time-travel?) discussing a new kind of flexure - where with nothing in the centre, a part can be constrained to just rotate about a point.

I won't pretend to understand the geometry, but it looks simple - that all you need to design your own (see fig 4a) is align all the hinges of the flexure with that chosen point.
