Hey Guys,

Well my quadcopter experiences have being going sort of OK so far.
All my recent crashes have been due to props coming loose, despite the fact that I've been vigilant with making sure the nuts are on really tight.

So I think I need some threadlocker. Is there any at the space?
Obviously I don't want the permanent stuff, just medium strength as I'll still need to swap props back off.
I'm going to try to find some on Saturday before I come over, but it would be great if someone else had some as a backup.

Hi David,

Have you tried a precision torque-wrench ?

No, I don't have a torque wrench. But I have been putting them on really tight, and I worry that much tighter would risk cracking them at the hub.

I've had enough crashes now that I'd really rather use a thread locker, and maybe even those locking washers with teeth for extra security.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I've not even built my quad yet (bits in the cupboard awaiting a spare moment) but I read that having your motors screwed too tight causes excessive vibration which may be upsetting your props. What I mean is that even though your props are on really tight, they can't compete with the excessive vibration once the motors warm and expand.
Can anyone confirm or deny?
Also having read your thread, I think I've been over optimistic in ordering only four props :-)

Any hardware or auto store should have it. There is some at the space too.  PVA glue works in a pinch.

Hi David,
If you haven't already got them a set of prop adaptors might do well if you motors have non-threaded shafts, they may work on threaded shafts swell but I can't say as I've never tried.

fwiw, here's a link to the torque wrench I was asking about:

Allows you to get prop and other nuts tightened exactly.

Not sure if there is a setting for bolts made of rice-noodle or fish-bones. I have a bigger one of these in my toolbox somewhere.
