Hi All,

I have been having some offline discussions on this.

I propose that we hold a discussion meeting at 7:30pm, on Monday 5th March, to be hosted at my shop, Zone 3 Laser Games, 7/3 Hollylea Road, Leumeah.

How does this suit everyone?

Regards
Andrew Larkin

I was going to comment on a commercial unit a technical not-for-profit
group I am involved with is considering renting in Blacktown.
However, it is actually closer to Gladesville than the south-west -
and the same distance from Leumeah as Gladesville is... That said, if
others were interested in sharing rent and space there we may be
interested.

That said, if a unit in the south-west in which a communications
trailer and various equipment could be stored, and with a board-room /
classroom space and room for servers could be shared we may also be
interested.

We are i the building next to Hungry Jacks, but we face on to the main Campbelltown Road, so you need to come around the back of the building from the Hollylea Road side.  If you get confused, call me on the above number and I'll talk you in!

Thanks Mick!

Not sure about the rest of you, but even though we will certainly have
some challenges in getting this to work. I'm fairly positive. I know
it won't happen straight away, but with some careful planning and the
right group, we can make this work! Thanks for your input Gav, will
definitely have to schedule a visit down to the Gladesville space some
time soon :)

Adrian.

You might find some useful tips on The Australian Hackerspace Network

Great to see more of Sydney will have easy access to a Hacker/Maker space.

P.S. Good move losing the perceived evil "hacker" part of the name. I'm getting really tired of spending time explaining that we are not just a bunch of criminals. :-)

Yeah, but the term hacking just refers to a minimalist software
development style. It's mainly about doing things half-properly but in
such a manner that the software actually works.

Visual effects in movies are usually done this way. The code sucks and
turns any professional programmer green as though they eaten last
weeks lunch, but hey, they give a nice result.

Hacking isn't just software, indeed, software borrowed the term from
the hardware world.
Hacks existed long before software.

Absolutely.

I believe its a woodworking term.

Used by non-cabinetmakers to differentiate their quick workmanship
from the uptown cabinet makers who can take more than a month to do
something that could have been done in 10 minutes.
