Did you encounter the Sybase 11.9.2 Upgrade Utility ($SYBASE/bin/sybsetup)
reported that Sybase Server cannot be rebooted ?

In last week, we tried to upgrade our Sybase ASE from 11.0.3.3 from 11.9.2.
Unfortunately, the upgrade failed with error message "ASE cannot be
re-booted). From the upgrade log file, we know that the pre-upgradeing
tasks completed. In fact, the ASE re-boot was in progress at that time. It
seems that ASE Upgrade script expected ASE should be rebooted within the
expected period. If the ASE could not be brought up within that period, the
ASE upgrade will be failed. Any hints/idea/solutions ?

I would recommend not to run upgrades with Sybase.
Not that I don't trust it, but I'd rather install the server from scratch
and then load the databases and leave the server do the job of upgrading
them.
Doing this, you will be sure of having a clean installation of the ASE
server.
I normally do that with my servers and I already have the scripts to
extract the users, database definitions and other settings that should be
applied to the new server.

Regards.
