Remote backup server on Linux

Can anyone help ............?

I have an ASE (12.5.0.1) on Linux, and I want to dump a database from
this host to another one. The problem I am having is even though the
database is only 600Mb, the devices on which it's built are 5Gb each
(so it's taking a small chunk of a large device).

Whenever I try and dump the db to another machine, the "local"
SYB_BACKUP crashes and the dump doesn't start.

Is there any way I can successfully take a dump of this database onto a
remote (Linux) host?
