Hello!
We use replication in continuous mode on Sybase ASA 8.
For some reason, every now and then, the remote service hangs (has to
be killed). While created with -k switch it shows as active in
services.msc and Sybase Central.
Log says something about not being able to establish a connection:
"Unable to open connection!."
So it has been hanging there for 2 days until users told me that they
didn't recieve data for couple of days, and I tried to restart the
service and it hung in stop pending. Then I killed it and restarted.
I guess DBremote lost link to its connection and DB wasn't able to
release the resources.
I'm trying to write a program that checks and restarts service if
necesary, and it worked, until this.
So, my question is this: is there any way to tell that remote service
is hung or inactive for certain without checking the log? How to keep
track of actually running services against thoose that just claim to
be running?
Any ideas?
