Hi,

following trouble:

Sometimes the consolidated Database sais there are corrupt messages while
receiving messages.
After stopping the antivirus on remote side pc it works fine.

The SQL Remote works with SMTP. So we deaktivated the scan of smtp outgoing
messages.
However the same problem will occur sometimes.

Is there a temporary folder where sqlremote creates the outgoing messages?
May be that the antivivirus software
modifies these temporary files ??

For any help - thanks in advance!

Greetings Frank Steinmann

There should be no storage of smtp based message file
anywhere except on the SMTP server. A temp file
is used only when there is not enough memory
(see the -m switch) for SQL Remote to generate
messages but that would not be the case for received
messages; just the sent messages.

It is just as likely that the virus scanner running on the SMTP
server could be also altering these messages.

But since the last corrupt message bug I found was fixed
in way back when the Version 7.0.1 and 6.0.3 branches
were current, you may look at more mundane sources.

Is it possible you are running with two different sizes
for the -l switch? That can ~randomly~ cause the one
running with the larger setting to create a message that
will be larger than the receiving side can handle. [in
this regard -l 500K > -l 500000 ;-) ]

i have running on both sides -l 500000

I know it is only on at the remote-side. I know, if we deaktivate the
TrendMicro antivirus - it works fine.
So I thinks it is to less of memory. And I know that its always when the
remote is sending.
Where are the temp-Files for sql-remote placed? Can I use the switch -dt
c:\temp for setting the temp-folder?
wich folder uses sql-remote?

thank you!
Greetings frank

SQL Remote and the database servers use the
enviroment settings to discover the temporary directory.

Reference (in English):
ASA Database Administration Guide
> File Locations and Installation Settings
> Environment variables
> TEMP environment variable

Those can be different for processes running as
daemons/services than it would be for foreground/user
application. [-dt was new in V10 and only applies to servers]
